Today is the Fourth Sunday of Advent and as we light the Fourth Candle we will discover Jesus is the Cornerstone of Our Lives.

Last week we looked at Salvation. I’m thinking that if you are still with me you have accepted God’s gift and you are a member of God’s family. YIPPPY!!!!!!!. This week we will look at some of the benefits of being a child of God and how to make that relationship stronger.

Relationships are work. If you want a good relationship with someone you need to spend time with them, getting to know them, how they think, what they like and dislike. You also have to just hang out with them and talk to them. As you do the relationship grows stronger. If you don’t, the relationship dries up and although you know they are there, there is nothing really between you. This can also happen with your relationship with God. I am not saying that you will lose your salvation; that isn’t going to happen, but you will lose some of the other benefits of being a child of the King.

The more time you spend with Him, studying His word and talking to Him, and listening to what He has to say, and learning to obey Him, the stronger the relationship with Him will be, and the more you will receive from it. I’m not talking about stuff and miracles although those will come too; I am talking about a great relationship with a great God; a friendship that will surpass all your expectations of what a relationship can be so that the stuff and miracles become less important than just being with God.

Jesus can be the Cornerstone of your life if you chose to follow Him. This Season let’s take time to be with Jesus.

This is the Fourth Sunday of Advent and today we light the Fourth Candle to celebrate that Jesus is the Cornerstone of Our Lives.

Glory To The Lord Who Has Come

Today is the Fourth Sunday of Advent and we will be lighting the fourth candle to remind us to

Glorify The Lord Who Has Come

This week we will be looking at another favorite Carol “Joy to the World” It’s words were written by Isaac Watts, a small, he was only 5 feet tall, sickly man who lived near London England. It was written in the year 1719. He based the words on Psalm 98 which is all about praising God for what He has done. The music for it though came many years later. The music comes from George Fredrick Handel’s “The Messiah” which was written in 1741 He worked on it continuously for 23 days and nights. It is a much loved cantata that is still sung today at Christmas time by some large choirs. The words and music didn’t come together until 1836 when a choir director, Lowell Mason, in Boston rearranged some of the music from “The Messiah” to fit the words of “Joy to the world” This Carol took a lot of year to get together but how powerful it is. Just like the Israelites waiting thousands of year for God’s Gift of Jesus we also waited a long time for the gift of this Carol but the wait was worth it.

This is the fourth Sunday of Advent and we light the Fourth candle to remind us to
