Have you ever screwed up big and because of it lost a friend or spouse? The relationship just didn’t survive what happened. Most of us can say yes to this happening at least once; either we screwed up or they did but the result was the same: the end of a great relationship.

Have you screwed up with God? Done something really bad that you are sure He could never forgive and you don’t have the courage to come to Him and even ask if He will forgive you because you are sure there is no way He can?

Well I am here to tell you He already did. Whatever you did, the price for it has already been paid by Jesus’ death (Titus 3:5, 1 John 1:9). There is nothing you can do that will make God mad enough to take away His gift of salvation it is yours forever once you have received it.

This Christmas you will be surrounded by family and friends, and some of them will screw up and hurt you. When they do remember that God gave you the gift of forgiveness. Maybe you can show them His love for them by forgiving your loved one as God forgave you. Give them another chance and another and another and another… (Matthew 18:21-22) Just like God gives us.

Hail the heaven-born Prince of Peace!
Hail the Son of Righteousness
Light and life to all he brings
risen with healing in his wings
Mild he lays his glory by,
born that we no more may die,

Ok let’s think about this for a minute. Jesus left everything behind for us His glory His throne His majesty His home etc to come here and live in a poor family as an illegitimate child, in a time when that would make Him a second class citizen. He did it all so that we would no longer have to die but can live forever with God here on earth as well as for eternity. To Him this was a mild or easy decision not because it was an easy thing to do but because we are so much more important to Him than anything He had to give up. He loves us that much, (John 10:17-18)

Glory to the giver of life
